I had this awesome find at our thrift store, which only cost me 50 cents! When I saw it, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it, and I did! This Thrift Store Makeover #1 is only the first of many to come! It was so simple to do and looks super cute!
You know when you have a decorative accent, and you just can’t decide where to put it? It just looks great wherever you try it out? Well, I had that problem with this piece. I find hearts just look great in whatever corner you put them and add such a homey feeling to the room.
How I did it:
First I took the straw stuff off. I was happy to throw that out, because it had such an old and moldy smell to it. Next, I sanded the green paint off the big hearts and the 3 small hearts that were attached to the straw.
It was pretty tricky to sand it off the small hearts, because they are just so small, but with lots of trial and error I finally made it! Not without scuffing my nail though…
Then, I took some white spray paint and painted it white. After about 20 minutes, I took the small hearts and arranged them where I liked them to be. By then they weren’t dry all the way so they stuck on it really well!
Now, I took some ribbon that I had left over and made a bow out of it. I arranged it where I liked it and hot glued it on.
Just cut off the ribbon to the length you want and there you are! A cute addition to your decor 🙂
Put it by your kitchen window or hang it beside a frame 🙂 Or just do whatever you want with it!
